1. Objective

Improve the creation, maintenance and discovery of author profiles while preserving the existing Version 1.0 publishing workflow.

2. Enhancements completed

2.1 Author profile form

• Introduced separate Canonical Name, Display Title and Displayname fields.
• Implemented automatic construction of the Author:Name page title using the Canonical Name field and Page Forms' page name formula.
• Integrated Display Title handling into Template:AuthorProfile, removing the need for a separate DISPLAYTITLE declaration on individual updated profiles.
• Added a dedicated stylesheet at Template:AuthorForm/styles.css.

2.2 Author profile maintenance

• Corrected the existing author profiles to include their Display Title values.
• Verified that Display Title and Displayname remain separate and that Semantic MediaWiki properties continue to work.
• Confirmed that author cards, article bylines and article-to-author associations remain functional.

2.3 Editorial Dashboard

Added three author-management actions:

• View Author Profiles — opens Category:Authors.
• Create Author Profile — opens the form directly and constructs the canonical title automatically.
• Update Author Profile — provides category-based autocomplete, allowing editors to find existing profiles by Malayalam display name and open them for editing.

The dashboard was also adjusted to prevent automatic focus on the author inputs when the page opens, keeping the pending-article section immediately accessible.

2.4 Form presentation

Created a dedicated stylesheet for Form:Author, improving field spacing, labels, help text, input sizing and mobile presentation without changing the form's underlying workflow.

3. Verification performed

The following checks were completed:

• Automatic title construction tested using temporary author profiles.
• Display Title and Displayname verified as separate Semantic MediaWiki properties.
• Author directory and author-card rendering checked.
• Existing published article bylines and author associations checked.
• Update autocomplete tested with Malayalam search terms.
• Dashboard navigation, creation and update controls tested.
• Form styling checked.
• Temporary test pages and profiles deleted.

4. Architectural decisions

• Existing author profiles remain in the Main namespace, using the established Author:Name page-title convention.
• No dedicated MediaWiki Author namespace was introduced.
• The existing Form:Article, Template:Article and Version 1.0 publishing workflow were preserved.
• CanonicalName remains a parameter in Template:AuthorProfile; no change was made to remove it after title construction.

5. Sprint outcome

Sprint 1 — Author Management is complete. The author-management enhancements have been tested without identifying a visible regression in the existing article publishing and presentation workflow.

6. Next steps

Proceed with the remaining planned Version 1.1 sprints:

• Sprint 2 — Article Status Management.
• Sprint 3 — Social Media Sharing.
• Sprint 4 — Logged-in User Interface.
• Final integration, audit, documentation review and release preparation.

Version 1.1 should be declared formally released only after the remaining planned work and final release checks are complete.
